09/09/2003CLINTON - Edward Alphonse V. Limoncelli, 71, of 18 Indian Drive, passed away on Aug. 29 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Grace Dellisola Limoncelli. He was born in East Haven on March 4, 1932, to the late Antonio and Madeline (Sammarco) Limoncelli.
A graduate of Fairfield University and Holy Cross College, he was a retiree of Allied-Signal Corp., where he was a research chemist and metallurgist for 20 years and held several patents. Previously, he worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in South Windsor and Middletown. He was a lifelong volunteer in the communities where he lived, serving on many boards and teaching CCD in Middletown, North Haven, and Morristown, N.J., where he also founded "Historic Morristown, Inc."
After retiring to Clinton in 1997, he served on the board and as Chairman of the Clinton Inland/Wetlands Commission, on the Connecticut River Estuary Regional Planning Agency, the Clinton Bluefish Festival Committee, and Town Trees Committee, as well as a volunteer at The Peabody Museum in New Haven.
Besides his wife, he is also survived by his two sons, Edward A. Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Thomas A. of Scotch Plains, N.J., and three daughters, Mary Harlos, wife of Christopher L. Harlos, of Schaumberg, Ill., Rosanne Limoncelli, wife of John Bickerton of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Frances Limoncelli, wife of Benjamin Loomis of Chicago, Ill. Also surviving are brothers John (Bo) Limoncelli of East Haven, Arthur Limoncelli of New Haven and sister Anne Melillo of East Haven. He also leaves his beloved granddaughters, Catherine and Julia Harlos, and Jesse Bickerton.
He was predeceased by brothers Sgt. Matthew, Anthony and Peter Limoncelli, and sister Raffaella Longobardi.
A funeral mass was celebrated on Thursday, Sept. 4 at St. Vincent De Paul's Church in East Haven. Burial is private.
