1.5 years ago a friend in Pittsburgh asked me to come and give a talk to the board of directors at an opera company about how to transform their web site and organization blah blah blah. At the time I was knee-deep in writing a book and told her I couldn't travel. However, since we were at the same conference I walked her through the usual tutorial/rant that I give for that kind of thing, and explained the background of why each part works (think "train the trainer").

Today I ran into her at another conference and she tells me that I'm "very big in the Pittsburgh fine arts community". She seems to have given this talk more than once, crediting me, and claims that everyone there knows my name and thinks I'm great. She said that now if I go to Pittsburgh she could get me into any performance for free.

This is the strangest planet I've ever experienced.

Sounds like some stories here I haven't heard. Could you tell me about the other planets you've experienced, please?

best,

Joel. Who will give your leg back when he's good and done with it.

It'd only be cool to go to said performances if you showed up with a six pack of Iron City, Rolling Rock, or Yuengling. And by six pack I mean twelve pack. And by twelve pack I mean already drunk on whatever beer you prefer.

And the punchline is...

Pittsburgh fine arts! :) No offense to anyone of course....but it really does make for a good punchline.

Rolling Rock will no longer be produced around here, must to the consternation of the die-hard alkies.

IC should not be drunk by anyone at any time. PERIOD.

Yeah I have a couple friends who are pretty upset about the Rolling Rock. I've been offering them Miller High Life but for some reason it hasn't helped.
