Someone found my post about trying to find the original The Phil Bernardi Band version of the song “I like Jersey Best” (I could only find jazz versions that changed it in strange ways, like doing one verse in a Bob Dylan voice, etc.).

The email was from Phil’s wife! Not only that, she attached a .WMA file of the original version that I had been looking for and told me what Phil’s been up to!

W00t!

(now how can I convert a WMA file to something that plays on my iPod?)

I like it, but when I want to play it for people they get distracted by all the celebrity impressions he does.

Oh yeah I'll give you that. I have been to a couple of his concerts and at one I wore my RAMSEY sweatshirt and well he talked to me a bit about Nobody's Inn where my mother saw him YEARS ago. It was fun!

iTunes should convert it fine.

As I have learned. You can leave New Jersey, but New Jersey never leaves you. All that I am good, bad and everything else was made by my experiences of growing up a Jersey Boy

You'r a Hudson County boy. That's a different and much more intense thing.

Well Yes. Hudson County has its own set of issues and problems. Ever read the book "Five Finger Discount" by Helene Stapinski? It is her account of growing up in Jersey City. Very true and real!

Assuming the file is not DMA protected, you may be able to just drag it to the Library icon in iTunes. If that doesn't work, go to the Version Tracker web site and download something like EasyWMA.

I know this thread is old, but I just stumbled across it looking for something else in Google.

Phil Bernardi has the MP3 of his original version on his website:

Here's a direct link to the file:
