What's been amusing for me is to see (superficially) some of the Olympic XC skate skiers using the same combination of boots (Salomon full carbon) and skis (Fischer skate cut) that I use at Spooner Lake.

Now all I need is a target rifle, a white skiing suit, and something to shoot at ...

i doubt i'll ever hear "biathlon" without thinking something dirty. thanks! i will admit, though, it's a far more interesting prospect than the (sporting. jesus, even adding that adjective doesn't reduce the smuttiness) event itself. sounds like a title of a conference/orgy has been decided. the two, uh, sports to include in that biathlon i shall leave to your active imagination. also to ponder: what would one have to be willing to do for a triathlon along similar lines?
