“The big story - “a striking decline in his sentence-by-sentence speaking skills.” The reason? One doctor says “pre-senile dementia” a catch-all term for earlier-than-normal cognitive declines (probably “dry-drunk syndrome”). This video intercuts footage from 10 years ago with recent footage - the difference is dramatic and disturbing. And obvious.“

Hey, you try to make coherent sentences with Dick Cheney mumbling in your earpiece the whole time!

This has been going around for a while.

Here's a link to the perspective of another doctor, who says the "presenile dementia" diagnosis is probably hooey.
Dubbya may be losing it, but the evidence cited has no credibility. The “confabulation” part tells me that the author didn’t know what he was talking about. I’m sure that we can expect a bunch of conspiracy stories next, with Karl Rove and Laura hiding the president’s disability ala Edith Wilson.

Remember, we all piled on Bill Frist for making his video tape-based diagnosis of Shiavo. This is just more of the same.

Problem is, Georgie plays for the camera. It's in his best interest to play stupid now, so he plays stupid. He isn't a leader and he isn't any kind of strategist, but he *is* an excellent tactician.

best,

Joel

And if it's true, what does it get us? Why can't we just be satisfied with the fact that he's wrong and say so? Smart or stupid, sane or crazy is not the operative question here unless you're Dick Cheney and you're looking for a promotion. The question is whether he's leading the country into the future or off of a cliff.
