Mentioning her name on a email list is a good way to pick a fight... and half the time it will be between people that agree with each other.

Susie Bright's article is absolutely the best I've read, and captures how I feel. Read to the end... it gets better and better.

Every time you hear some preacher/politician talk about “violence against women” or how something is “degrading to women” tell them to to send a royalty check to Andrea and ask them where they’ve done lately to empower female sexual authority.  I never understood why she didn’t attack them the way she attacked feminist pornographers.

Neither have I.

No love lost here. It's because of a few like her that I have to explain, time and time again, what feminism really is, and why a man, even a man who's participated in pornography from all angles, can actually be a feminist.

Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead.

I have no love for the hellacious human that Andrea was.

Wow! I had no idea she'd died. I am actually sad. She was one of the people I read in my "angry young feminist-just understanding it all for the first time phase". I saw her read at a wonen's bookstore in London once, and she was pretty incredible in person.

IMO, people tend to overlook that she was rabidly anti-SM and porn, and rabidly anti-trans (the first set I can understand, the second is plain and simple prejudice).

She, in the position she was in within the feminist community was one of the people to loudly proclaim Janice Raymond's "The Transsexual Menace" as a masterpiece within the feminist community. While I fully agree separatists should have thier space, I don't believe that spreading hatred is something people wanting more acceptance as equals should be doing. Then again, every minority needs another minority to pick on, and for them it was the imposters (MTFs) and traitors (FTMs).
