OK, I read it. It seems that the things you're proposing the Democrats do (paint the opposition as stealing the election, etc., etc.) are the things Rove did.
And yet, all I hear out of the Democratic Party is how evil a man Rove is, and the vile things he'll do to win an election, etc., etc.
If you want to become your enemy for the sake of winning, I suppose that's your own business, but personally I like to have my integrity at the end of the battle.
In this case I think the strategy might backfire. If I heard correctly, Bush so far has the popular vote, if by a small margin. I think many voters really fear a repeat of '2000, and too much protest could actually swing public opinion against the Democrats. They would have to turn up some pretty well-documented issues with a significant number of votes. The biggest issue seems to be the provisional ballots in Ohio. I haven't heard anyone say this, but is it possible that there might be a higher than usual number of them due to all the challenges issued at the polls? Am I understanding the process correctly? Of course, I gather only about 1/3 are generally found to be legitimate votes. This Rove individual sounds interesting, in an awful sort of way. The point about people voting because of anger and fear is sadly true. I know many people who voted for either Kerry or Bush even though they disliked both intensely. They simply feared the other one more.
