“One of the interesting things people ask me, now that we’re asking questions, is, can you ever win the war on terror? Of course, you can.” -President Bush, 4/13/04

VERSUS

“I don’t think you can win [the war on terror].” - President Bush, 8/31/04

I think this provides a better take on things:

The "flip flop" problem is Boosh's insistence that he never changes his mind. He could simply say that between April and August he thought it over and has a new opinion, but he's an autocrat, not a president -- so if you challenge his opinion, he has to defeat *you* rather than justify his thinking.

best,

Joel

I think someone finally clued George in that terrorism is a concept, not a country in the middle east.

Was thinking of this topic this morning while flossing my teeth.

Terrorism is like plaque... you may think that you could "win the war on plaque" but really you're just delaying it. Eventually ya gotta go to the dentist for a teeth cleaning, and if you didn't do a good job while flossing/brushing they're going to do some painful scraping.. If you stop flossing and brushing, your regular cleaning is going to be like the Iraq wars... once every decade or so, and lots of people are going to die.

SO basically... the war on plaque never stops, you can never win, and it's all the little pieces at a time that work to help prevent big flareups..

Or something like that.. :)
