Who is the next "They Might Be Giants"?

When the NYC independent music scene had its rebirth, TMBG was at the center. They were the band that everyone respected and cheered when they made it big. I had no idea any of that was going on until 1-2 decades later when I saw Gigantic, the documentary about the band.

I’m so jealous of anyone that got to be a part of that music scene. I was an easy driving distance away but had not idea it was going on in my backyard.

So my question is... how could I have known about such a thing and how can I “be there” for the next big thing?
