Some notes:
- Yes, free laundry but only at the HQ. Here in NYC we’d have no need as real city-dwellers use laundry-by-the-pound near our apartment... or we live out in the ‘burbs and have a laundry machine. He also failed to point out that not only are the laundry machines free, but so is the soap.
- Paragraph 4: The haircut van is not free. Plus, that same van (and a bunch of competitors) rolls around to nearly every large office parting lot in silicon valley.
- “the programming hints taped on bathroom walls” -- Yeah, it’s true. New issue every week.
- “upcoming software download called Google Gears” -- Gears is already shipping but only Reader and some third-party apps support it so far.
Libertarian bait
Jan. 17th, 2008 07:02 pmA California bank has filed suit against the state of New Jersey for requiring that, when they rip off people by offering “tax-refund loans” that overcharge people by 2x to 100x, they have to tell the consumer that they are doing this.
Now I understand that Libertarians believe that two people should be allowed to sign any contract that they both agree to, without government intervention, and I understand that Libertarians believe that “market forces” is better at stopping fraud than governments, but...
...but...
...but...
...but why isn’t there a letter-writing campaign by Libertarians telling congress, “Hey! Let people get ripped off if they can’t do math!”
I mean... how difficult is it to calculate the APR of a 3 month loan?
Gosh, if they require this, the next thing you know food companies will be required to tell us what’s in their food! What a disaster!
