iSight / iChat A/V feature?
Feb. 17th, 2004 12:02 pmApple's iSight webcam with iChat A/V software does something interesting. It shows the image that you are transmitting in a picture-in-picture window. That's not the interesting part. The interesting part is that what it shows you is a mirror-image but the pereson you are talking to sees the normal view of you. I assume that is so that it's like looking into a mirror.
The wierd thing is that I've been using iChat A/V for a month or so and I just noticed this because I was wearing a tshirt with text on it.
Do other cam chat programs do this?
Fake or real?

Either way... I'm adding this to my list of "reasons why I love the internet".

So, MS's codenamed "Longhorn" release of Windows is supposed to add so-called "database features" to the file system.
The "database features" I'd like to see added is transactions. I want to be able to say, "Start transaction", install a set of patches, and then "end transaction". If the machine crashes during the operation then everything reverts seemlessly. It would be fricken' magical.
However, I have a feeling this is not what they mean.

Quote from a friend
Feb. 17th, 2004 08:17 pm"Dean has definitely given the Democratic
party a backbone transplant. " (skip a paragraph or two) "Dean has a little bit of 'angriness' baggage about him that makes a lot
of people think he's not somebody they want dealing with North
Korea (as an example). Whether true or not, that is how he's perceived by
a *lot* of people. To some degree it's the scream in Iowa. To a lot of
degree that was way overhyped. He's had a lot of good ideas. The other
candidates have coopted many of them. Soon there will be one
candidate and I hope everybody will get behind him. It's all about
the results for me. Bush has got to go. I think Kerry as president
with Edwards as VP is the winning combination, but it could easily
be flipped if Edwards wins some big states like TX, CA, and FL."
April Fools Idea
Feb. 17th, 2004 08:29 pmYou know what would be really funny?
On April Fools Day going through the 235 friends I've accumulated on Orkut.com and mark them all as "Report As Bogus".
Yes, that would just be hilarious. Fuckin' hiiii-larious.
