I just read Andy Tanenbaum's debunking of Microsoft's whisper campain against Linux followed by Google's Proposal for non-evil software and thought, "These are great times."

Then I remembered that someone deserving to be fired at my ex-employer has been fired, that at my new job my boss gives me great support and I thought, "Yes, great times."

"Invented" by Microsoft? How do you get that? I'm seeing a pretty wide range of topics addressed on their web site and am dubious that they emerged fully grown from Steve Ballmer's forehead.

I do believe that they write up white papers expressing whatever opinion MS pays them to hold, but I'm not seeing the history that would lead me to believe that they were wholly invented by MS.
