Why do they call them fingers when they don't fing?
Why do we park on driveways and drive on the parkway?
Why does mkdir -p /opt/src/easysieve/cgi-bin create the intervening directories, but there is no -p option to rmdir that deletes as many of the empty directories as possible?

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuude.

*shudder* I'm glad that there's no such option to rmdir. Philosophically though, I think it's about intent. In the former, you intend for those directories to be there, in the latter you get an unpredictable result.

There is a -p option to rmdir that deletes empty parent directories.
