While I'm not sure whether I can believe that voting machine fraud was responsible for Kerry's loss (I think the other article you link to explains it much more satisfactorily), the fact that I'm going hmmm is enough to really really need at least the receipt style voter verification. (I'm fine with electronic as long as there's a damn paper trail.) I voted in TN with the Diebold machines, and I kept wondering all through the process whether my vote actually counted. That's not something we should have to wonder about in a democracy. Damn. That's seriously distressing.
