I saw Batman Begins on Thrusday with C. Oh my god it was good. It was drama, not action, that makes this movie so good. I was nearly in tears with compassion for the young Bruce Wayne. That’s good directing, writing, and acting all coming together.

This is going to be a big hit.

Even if you aren’t a big Batman fan, go see this.

To quote this review, it’s an actual movie, not just a superhero movie.

Friday:

Woke up with C very early (normal time for her) and she took me to the airport on her way to work.

The airport was uneventful, but getting on the airplane who should be standing there in row (I think) 12 but ex-Governor of NJ and EPA chief Christie Todd Whitman. She hadn’t been recognized yet, and to be honest I wasn’t sure if it was her because she was in coach (Don’t republicans politicians always fly first class? I mean, if I learned anything from lobbying republicans is that the food at their events was a million times better than at democrat events. Doesn’t the luxury extend to their travel?) so I just stopped, smiled at her with a knowing look, and said, “Well good morning!” with a nod of my head. She smiled back and said “Good morning” and smiled. I kept going.

The people behind me recognized her and started the whole, “Oh, aren’t you so-and-so” conversations. In hindsight, I wish I had pause long enough to say something like, “I loved you on The Daily Show... but don’t make fun of Howard Dean, you have more in common with him than you think” or “Keep up the good work... and if you ever want to join our team, the door’s open!”

The flight was basically uneventful, with me sleeping most of it (yeah for earplugs and eye covers!) except when I was reading. I read all the read-and-throwout material I had brought (Two issues of SysAdmin, Queue, and ;login:) [Note: My goal is to lighten my load as I travel, so I bring reading material that I can throw out as I go. Though, I did save a couple articles, including Amy’s Q&A piece because I want to write her about it later.]

There are times when I get paranoid that “this is the flight that is going to explode and kill me”. I’ve felt like that occasionally since 1992. I don’t know why. I know it won’t happen, but I need to come up with a mental trick to keep my mind off of it. This time I told myself, “We’re safe, since Whitman is on the plane.” but later I thought, “Gosh, if Rove wanted to kill her, this would be a repeat of something he’s good at.

Finally we landed.

Arrived and my cell phone started beeping: 3 voicemails. [livejournal.com profile] cyan_blue is ill and suggests that staying at her place might not be the best thing for me tonight. [livejournal.com profile] emmett_the_sane (and the beautiful Andrea) pick me up and take me to the house then go to work. I hung out with [livejournal.com profile] cyan_blue and had lunch and figured out new plans. We talked and brought each other up to date.

The plans turned out to be to go to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] src, Mike and Stephanie and crash at [livejournal.com profile] src/Mike’s new house). I took Caltrain to Mountain View and hung out on Castro St. until everyone arrived, eating gelato at my favorite place. Then we ate at a nice Vietnamese restaurant.

Damn. I had a nightmare that X was giving away her MY computer to her new bf though this complicated scheme that isn’t worth repeating except to say that it all took place in the house I grew up in, mostly the basement. Freaky.
