We all know about Moore’s Law as it applies to chip speed but little attention is publicly made to the challenges of increasing speed in hard drives. A recent discovery in polyester (yes, polyester, you disco baby) lubricants will allow for faster and longer lasting hard drives.”
Yes, but will it improve K-Y jelly?

“While the Republicans spend the week in New York meeting with their corporate contributors, and misleading the nation about their record of mass destruction we will be talking to voters, telling them the truth about the issues that matter to them,” ACT CEO Steve Rosenthal said.

ACT’s efforts during the week of the RNC Convention include:

  • “Real People Telling the Real Story.”  Every day, ACT will hold local news conferences and events in the battleground states featuring local citizens.  These real people will tell the real story behind the Administration’s poor record on the convention’s theme of the day.
  • “Truth Canvass.”  Beginning on Tuesday, each night during the convention ACT canvassers will visit tens of thousands of doors in the battleground states, delivering the truth to voters about the misleading statements they heard during the previous night’s convention speeches.
  • Rapid Response to local speakers.  As the RNC convention speakers attempt to mislead the American people about the Administration’s record, local ACT offices will provide local reporters with real-time rapid response to each speaker from the battleground states.
  • “Truth Center” Throughout the convention our website will be the source for the truth behind the spin coming from New York with state specific facts and other data constantly updated and available online at: http://www.actforvictory.org/act.php/truth/index.
“Throughout this year, the Republicans have proven their ability to say just about anything with a straight face,” Rosenthal said.  “But voters across the country aren’t fooled, and next week they won’t be silent.”

I salute the people protesting in NYC this week. However, the question for my readers is quite simple: What are you doing to make sure Bush isn’t re-elected? Showing outrage doesn’t directly get votes for a candidate. Reading blogs feels like you are helping the cause, but doesn’t (beyond educating yourself, which is always a good thing). This is the week to volunteer with ACT, or donate to DNC, or sign up to get training for Election Protection or host a house party or whatever floats your boat.

The sad truth is very simple: Reading blogs does not constitute “political action”. Volunteer for something that takes you out of your house THIS WEEK.

[Poll #342857]
All week I’ll be spotlighting actions you can take. If you want me to spotlight your favorite cause, or have a reason you think you can’t volunteer, post a comment or email me.
