I just listened to the first 3 hours of AirAmericaRadio, the new liberal radio station. The noon-3pm show is The O'Frankin Factor, hosted by Al Franken.

If the show is this good every day, they've got a real winner. It was funny, entertaining, funny, lots of big names, and did I mention funny? I'm sure that the right wing is preparing to badmouth everything about the show... from the parody of Ann Coulture (sp?) to the selection of guests.

I wonder if AirAmerica, which is a paintball supply company, is getting a huge number of hits to their web site. The proper URL is http://www.airamericaradio.com/ of course.

And yes, you can listen to it via the internet.

Please tune in and show your support right now on one of these stations:
New York, NY — WLIB 1190 AM
Los Angeles, CA — KBLA 1580 AM
Chicago, IL — WNTD 950 AM
Portland, OR — KPOJ 620 AM
Inland Empire, CA — KCAA 1050 AM
XM Satellite Radio — Channel 167

Or listen online by clicking this link: http://www.airamericaradio.com

i'm definitely excited about air america, but i'm hoping they get around to posting a schedule and archives online. a live stream is only of moderate use and the site is a bit, uh, thin at this point, but, yay, it's a start! -jd

Glad to hear that Al was great! :) That guy is brilliant and funny!

I listened a bit on my way in to work today, this afternoon. So I didn't get to catch Al Franken (bummer!) -- he's 9-noon here, but what I did hear sounded pretty good. Though they were having some technical difficulties, which I guess are to be expected from an entirely new setup. I hope to catch some bits of Al tomorrow.

My ultimate goal is to investigate and purchase or implement some of the solutions out there for TiVo for Radio (not official TiVo stuff, but implementations of various elements of the TiVo idea for radio. Al Franken on AirAmerica makes me really want this soon!

I thought Randi Rhoades, who had four hours after O'Franken, was great! And Garofolo rocks, too. But my impression was Franken and his crew need to learn the medium, fast, or that show will be a drag on the network rather than it's flagship show. Franken's smart enough though, that probably either I'm wrong or he'll get it quickly enough. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

They'll be putting mp3's of old shows on the web site. (So I'm told)

I'm a bit surprised they don't have a station in SF yet. I guess I'm going to have to install Real Player so I can listen until they do.

I did listen to AL on the Howard Stern Show. It was interesting because one of the hosts was a avowed Republican, and Al ripped up every one of his arguements, but the guy just couldn't let go of his beliefs. Sad really. But Al was actually nice about it. Honest and funny and very real.

I'm definitely looking forward to it.
