The internet meme song

Wow, this is just awesome. Someday history books will be written that will include this kind of stuff.

If it wasn't for an VH1 show (something like "100 most popular internet moments"... I forget the real title; I posted about it) then I wouldn't recognise more than 10% of the sites mentioned. As it is, I barely recognised 50%.

That is not my internet.

Fortunately!

Oh ... how I wax nostalgic catching all the pop meme references.

Surprised they left out Badgers and Kenya, though ...

Yeah, I'm hopelessly unhip. You wanna know how I find out what's on YouTube? I watch it on Olbermann. If it's not on Olbermann, I pretty much don't know about it.

*sigh*

It was neat; I got very few of the first references and more of the later ones. Of course, now I want a page with links to all the things listed. It's kind of a "We didn't start the fire", actually.

I remember that in 5th grade or so, when the song came out, our Social Studies class took the song, and made teams, and every team had to explain everything in one "paragraph". It was a good thing.

And yes, there will be books and psychological theses on which memes spread and why, and someone will get a Ph.D. having studied goatse.
