Have fun! Here are some restaurants to try if you have time:

Try to make the time to get to
Opie's Barbecue (9504 E State Hwy 71, Spicewood, TX 78669, http://www.opiesbarbecue.com/). Possibly the best pork ribs I have *ever* had. Like many BBQ joints, they run out of food early. You select your meal from a warmer at the entrance and pay by the pound. We ended up with way too much food, but had leftovers for a picnic the next day.

Michi Ramen (6519 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78752, http://www.michiramen.com/). We had never experienced good ramen in a restaurant before, although I make it at home regularly. One of two ramen restaurants recommended by http://cookingforengineers.com/ ; we did not make it to the other, Ramen Tatsu-ya (8557 Research Blvd, Austin, TX 78758, http://www.ramen-tatsuya.com/).

Torchy's Tacos -- several locations; try to visit the original food truck at 1311 S 1st St,
Austin, TX 78704, http://www.torchystacos.com/locations/austin/ . Try them for breakfast, too. At the same location, there's a chocolate truck that was out for repair when we went; check it out!

Kerbey Lane Cafe (3704 Kerbey Ln, Austin, TX 78731, http://www.kerbeylanecafe.com/). This is the original location. We had breakfast there twice.
